i love the gentle rain
crashing down
the sound
of leaves caressed
and beaten
in the night
i love the gentle rain
that washeth away the sins of the world
into the dark holes and tunnels
underlying us all
i love the gentle rain
streaming down the neon windows
pooling in the incandescent streets
wetting a woman
running for a cab
i love the gentle rain
with its promise of tomorrow
and tomorrow and
tomorrow
