VETS ATTACK MCCAIN

GENERATION GAP WIDENS AS MCCAIN NARROWS STANCE

IRAQI'S ASK US TO LEAVE; MCCAIN SAYS "HELL NO, WE WON'T GO!"

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki Votes For Obama's Timetable

Even as polls hit the street showing McCain losing among draft-age voters, the old man continues to blather on about his precious "surge." The only thing is, he's lying. Or he's just Alzheimers wrong: The Army Colonel McBush quotes on the success of the troop surge was in fact speaking of gains that took place before the surge began. Of course, the Iraqi's, and the ground-pounders who fought there know that, unlike Flyboy McSame.

Every day, the Repukelickin's show themselves to be more out of touch. Every day, they whittle down their electoral and financial advantage until there's nothing left but a nub. Every day, young Americans struggle to adapt to life with nothing but nubs and stubs where limbs used to be, before Bush & McCain sent them into harm's way ill-equipped and without a plan to get them home safe again. Now they're limping, crawling, and being carried home. And they're going to vote. Be afraid, Repukes. Be very afraid.

THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY
"McCain Defends Anbar-Before-Surge Scenario"
The Straight-Talk Express doesn't stop here any more.
' "Yesterday," a reporter asked McCain, "you suggested that the surge in Iraq predated the Anbar rebellion, and actually the Anbar rebellion came a couple of months previously. Did you misspeak, or did you have something else in mind?" McCain said that he was referring to the successful counterinsurgency strategy in the Anbar -- the co-option of the Sunni sheiks -- which provided a model for troops who later surged into the country. '

"Obama's reception in Iraq puts McCain in difficult spot"
One more vote for the Democrats.
' First to call for a "surge" in Iraq, Republican White House hopeful John McCain may be the last to endorse the idea of a timetable for the withdrawal of US soldiers. His rival Barack Obama left Iraq on Tuesday after Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki voiced support for the departure of US combat troops by the end of 2010, a deadline similar to what the Democratic candidate has proposed. Several weeks ago, McCain spoke of victory in Iraq around 2013. And has indicated he supports maintaining US bases there for an indefinite period of time. '

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
"'Generation Gap' Widens in the 2008 Electorate"
Don't trust anyone over 70, man!
' Voter preferences have long been split by race and gender, but this year's election is adding another divide: a sharp age gap. Democrat Barack Obama has a strong lead among younger voters, and Republican John McCain is solidly in front among older voters. That divide has grown in the past month, according to the Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll. "There's a huge generation gap," said pollster Neil Newhouse, a Republican who conducts the poll with Democrat Peter D. Hart. '
