LET'S MOVE ON
Electoral Reform Is Our Only Real Hope
There's a HUGE amount of blather on the blogs right now about the gay-porn Republican apparatchik in reporter's drag at the White House press conferences. Yes, it's further proof of the complete moral, ethical, legal and spiritual corruption of the Bushies. But did we need any more evidence?
Bush blatantly and deliberately exploited, if not perpetrated 9/11, and lied to get us to invade a sovereign nation without provocation, slaughtered over 100,000 innocent civilians, stole, misplaced or misappropriated billions of taxpayer dollars, bungled the rebuilding of Iraq after we destroyed it, short-changed our troops, screwed our veterans, lost the peace in Iraq and Afghanistan, turned Iraq over to Iranian-backed Shi'ite ayatollahs, and Afghanistan over to heroin-dealing warlords compared to whom the people PREFER the Taliban...
And all this BEFORE the election. America doesn't give a shit. Congress is a Bushco rubber-stamp, and so are the Courts. So why the fuss about the gay-porn blogger in the West Wing? Do you think Bush is going to resign in shame over this? Do you really think anybody cares? Do you think even WE will care, in a week or two?
Shouldn't we be focusing on electoral reform, our only hope of ever regaining power, and fixing the system? There's only 20 months till the next Congressional elections. Shouldn't we be out in the streets demonstrating, knocking on doors, talking to our neighbours, making phone calls, taking over the local Democratic Party clubhouses, mounting a campaign, suing in court, stinking up the media, relentlessly harassing Bush and the lowlier Republicans for total, immediate, permanent, fool-proof electoral reform, before it's too goddamned late? One more rigged election, and we have NO voice in Congress.
Then what? Just blogging about gay-porn bloggers? Let's quit fucking jerking off on the fucking Internet here, people. Get off your ass and DO something, in the big, bad REAL world for a fucking change. Oh, and working for any existing candidate or Party as it now stands is just perpetuating a system that CLEARLY DOESN'T WORK. (Non-violently) smash it. Rebuild it. Change it. Now.

And just how many people is it that STILL don't vote and wouldn't even if Jesus Himself in his true (compassionate, loving) guise showed up with ringlets in the ring? The reason They won is simple: advertising. If you can't put your more powerful copy in front of the pursuadable, you're dead. Also, how many of our blog heroes are considering running for office?I would consider it if: (a) I were amongst a constituency, which I ain't; and (b) I could physically get to a political venue. Another thing for your blog: matching up representative wannabes with their respective constituencies.

Agreed, on the third Parties: Owned and operated by the non-incumbent Party, since George Wallace, until Nader, a Bushco product. That's why I say we need to take over our local Democratic Parties. The infrastructure already exists, but there's nobody running things, who represents us: Honest, hard-working people whom the system has forgotten. And we are the majority everywhere in this country. OK, maybe not in the real redneck parts of the Red States, but everywhere that counts. Forty to sixty per cent don't vote, most of them regular working people who are tired of being screwed by both Parties. Start representing their interests, and they'll vote like Hell.
Personal contact beats advertizing every time. We need to reach out in our own neighbourhoods, and address these issues one on one, face to face. Bring your neighbours to Party meetings in groups, with your group agenda already agreed upon and set, everybody on board, behind one spokesperson. And don't take any BS from the Party regulars. They either get on board with us, or they're out. Democracy. Politics, in the raw, from the grass roots upward, not top down. That's how we rebuild the Democratic Party, and the Country.
