Republicans Have Destroyed The American Vision Of The Future
Now McBush thinks he can pre-empt Obama by evoking some sort of a classic American 60's vibe, a Kennedy flash-back. Unfortunately for him, the 60's was a Democrat decade, a time of change and rebellion, liberation and upheaval that threw the Republicans for a loop. They're still whining about it, and the "counter-culture." The decade ended with Tricky Dick "I'm Not A Crook" Nixon's blatantly false promise to end the war in Vietnam. You know, the one where McCain dropped bombs on babies from miles above? Yeah. Not such a good memory, McSame. And then Watergate. The Seventies. Disco. Stagflation (It's B-A-A-A-A-A-A-C-K ! ! ! ). No thanks, douche-bag.
Anyway, the Repukes destroyed NASA's purity of purpose and perfection of execution, turning it into a military boondoggle and creating the Challenger disaster. To them, Space was just another piece of real estate to be overdeveloped and squeezed for money and power. Nothing uplifting or spiritual about it. To Repukelickin's, spirituality means condemning other people and hogging the heavens all to yourself. Pigs in space. The future is just the past redux. Blcch.
Democratic Senator Col. John Glenn USMC, Admiral Alan B. Shepard Jr. USN, martyr Lt.Col. Virgil "Gus" Grissom USAF and first man on the moon Capt. Neil Armstrong USN would have spit on McCain, back in the day: An Annapolis slacker who skated on his admiral-daddy's credits, a piss-poor pilot who lost multiple planes, a stiff-arm-saluting prick who napalmed civilians and paid the price in POW camp (where he made propaganda for the enemy,) which he's now trying to leverage into an Oval-Office billet; John Dubya McCain would only rate a full military loogie. Now he's trying to co-opt the spirit of real American heroism. Hyoook-PTUOOOIE!!! You ain't got the right stuff, Li'l Dubya.

"McCain Fires Back At Obama To Win Over NASA Supporters"
' Over the weekend, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama made his voice heard in regards to his support of NASA. Not to be outdone, Republican presidential candidate John McCain has fired back, with his own plans for NASA. Barack Obama revealed last weekend in Florida that he was in full support of NASA, and wanted the U.S. to lead the way in terms of space exploration. '

"Obama Suggests $2 Billion In New Funding for NASA"
' While Obama's ambitious plan embraces President Bush's 2004 "vision" to send astronauts to the moon by 2020 and later to Mars -- a plan McCain co-sponsored in the Senate -- the Democratic presidential candidate said the administration's "poor planning and inadequate funding" have undermined the effort and jeopardized U.S. leadership in space. In particular, he criticized administration policies that will lead to a five-year period after 2010 when "the United States will have to depend on foreign rockets and spacecraft to send Americans to orbit" -- even to the largely U.S.-funded $100 billion international space station. Although McCain has said continued U.S. space superiority is essential, he has also said that as president he would freeze all discretionary spending -- and NASA, with a budget of about $17.5 billion, is generally considered in that category. McCain has spoken in mostly general terms about NASA. In an earlier interview, McCain campaign spokesman Taylor Griffin said the candidate firmly supports building a new generation of U.S. spacecraft and would fund the program as needed. He also said McCain would conduct "an overall review early in the administration of where NASA's money is spent to determine an appropriate plan of action." '

"McCain's Low Road on NASA"
' Once again, John McCain and his campaign have decided to take the low road rather than defend his own record on NASA issues, which Florida Today called "downright schizophrenic." Not only has McCain voted to take funding from NASA to fund other priorities, but his "fantasy" plan to pay for making the Bush's tax cuts permanent by freezing discretionary funding and vetoing every bill with earmarks would cost the Mars mission millions. '

"Swing and Miss: McCain's Pinata Politics"
' John McCain's campaign has been operating under a similar framework for quite a while now. Under McCain's version of Pinata Politics, the senator and his team swing wildly in every direction, hoping to hit Barack Obama. There's no real consistency to the attacks -- and there's even less honesty and integrity backing them up -- but McCain appears to be blindfolded, allowing Karl Rove's operation to spin him in circles. "Politicians in Space! Obama, McCain Clash on NASA Funding"
' As we’ve mentioned before, Florida has a huge stake in NASA’s well-being, and the state stands to lose thousands of jobs when the space shuttle program shuts down. Given that NASA is now making headlines in the presidential debate, it looked like Florida Sen. Bill Nelson’s tactic—harping on the fact that cutting NASA programs means relying on the Russians for access to space—worked just fine. '.

Yeah. Thanks.
Obama needs to be hitting out at McCain. He's still playing defense, and the old Repuke Dirty Tricks Squad has been deployed. We've seen winners become losers before. McCain needs to be eviscerated.
