Iraqis Say They've Learned Much From American History

In the "Arab Street" today, there was much talk of unprovoked aggression, devastating first-strikes, and war for oil. Those sympathetic to the U.S.A. expressed their condolences over the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, sixty-three years ago, today. Both of them.

Those less sympathetic expressed their fervent hope that things will turn out for America just as they did for Japan. This, apparently, a reference to Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, where the world's first atomic bombs were dropped on a civilian population.

"It set a precedent. Just as this war does. If we feel America needs 'regime change,' we may utilize any means necessary, as your Donald Rumsfeld has said. And done. You yourselves have given us permission. Don't worry, we will try to minimize collateral damage in your cities. And we will certainly give our American prisoners of war the same consideration you gave to ours. It is only just, and fair," said Islamic Studies major Karim Nafez, a part-time taxi driver here in Fallujah.

"Someday, I hope to teach History in the United States. Or, maybe I will practice law, in Nuremburg. The future looks bright. See, I am wearing shades! And they are Rrrray-Bahnz!"
