CHERTOFF: ANOTHER WINGNUT FOR HOMELAND SECURITY?

PAYBACK? WHITEWATER "INVESTIGATOR" BRINGS NEW PARTISANSHIP TO HOMELAND SECURITY

New Lightweight Nominee Is Another Lifelong Failure, Ace Suck-Up, And One Of Rudy's Boys... But A REAL Republican

"Your Papers, Please, Herr Democrat!" (NJ Republican --Gotta Be Some Skeletons THERE!)

He has little or no top-level administrative experience, and none with the various agencies he'll be supervising. Was he picked as an easily confirmable nominee, or just because of his Party connections? Does this post matter at all, to the Republicans? After their choice of Kerik, without a glance at his record, one has to wonder. Ask the same question that should have been asked about Bernie Kerik: Who the Hell is this guy, really?

The guy starts out, fresh from Harvard Law, as a clerk to one of his home State of New Jersey's own, the great liberal Supreme Court Justice William Brennan. Then he joins the Dark Side, and becomes a Federal prosecutor in New York, during the Reagan years, under Rudy Giuliani. He eventually becomes a Federal judge in Pennsylvania, again under a Republican president. His ideology may be fungible, but his sense of self-interest is fixed. Wonder what issue drove him toward the Republicans? Or was it just naked ambition? It certainly wasn't ethics, or justice, or decency.

He got picked as the lead attack dog against the Clintons by none other than the Republicans' own Ethically Challenged Poster Boy Alphonse "Kick Back" D'Amato, then a Republican Senator from New York. He digs for years, finds nothing on the Clintons, but ruins as many associated lives as possible. Remember Mr & Mrs. James B. McDougal, the Clintons' best friends? He wound up prison, she had to go begging to survive, and try to save him. That's Chertoff's work, on a trivial manner where the Clintons LOST money on a failed real estate deal in Arkansas, for Gawd's sake.

Chertoff locked up over 700 Arabs and other Muslims indefinitely, finally charging them only with minor violations of things like immigration laws. Gotta look like Bush is doing something about 9/11, right? Give him a partisan agenda, and Chertoff really goes for it. And yet he defended and covered for a law client with ties to terrorists. For a fee, of course. What's his motivation, his agenda going to be, now?

For his unscrupulousness and loyalty to the Republicans, Chertoff got to head the Justice Department's "probe" into 9/11. Everything we know about the attacks, and the alleged Muslim Fundamentalist Arab terrorist perpetrators, comes from this Jewish right-winger. Care to bet on his views on the Israel-Palestine thing? Think the Israeli Right has benefitted from our new hatred of the Arabs? Ask the Arabs he illegally detained for years, and then failed to get convictions against, or even bring to trial, most of them. He treated him the same way Israeli's treat Palestinians.

Now, put away your Protocols of the Elders of Zion, you nut-jobs out there. Some of my best friends are Jewish, oy vey what a cliche. But they're not rabid, racist Zionists. If a rabidly anti-Semitic radical left-wing Muslim Arab had been nominated for the post of Secretary of Homeland Security, wouldn't people be entitled to ask just how rabid, or racist, or Islamicist he was? Shouldn't we ask similar questions about this guy? Like, who the Hell is he? What are his views, his ideology, his politics, his loyalties? After all, this is our homeland we're talking about, right? Shouldn't we at least ASK?

Just speculating here, but, if there had been any hint of a Right-Wing Israeli involvement in the attacks of 9/11, do you think this guy would have investigated them, fully, impartially? And what if he discovers such activity now, after he's in charge of all "homeland security"? Will he be able to put the interests of our homeland above those of his spiritual homeland, Israel? How far Right, and how much of a Zionist is this guy?

Are we installing a possible Mossad, or Koch operative at the top of our internal security apparatus? Has anybody checked this out? Or, would that be Chertoff's job? Something to think about. And we should think the same thing about the potentially divided loyalties of any nominee to a position of this importance, especially when the possible conflicts are so glaringly obvious: No matter what his or her race, religion, or politics are. Is he or she an American first, or not?

The fact is, this guy's whole history is one of hatchet-man. He brings politically-motivated prosecutions for high crimes, fails to find any, and then slams the "suspects" with every minor, but still Federal charge he can find, so it shouldn't be a total loss, for his record: Even though the poor schnooks he victimized with the awesome power of his office were not guilty of the real crimes he tried, and failed to pin on them. (A fellow New Jersey lawyer said Chertoff would prosecute his own mother for a headline.) And this was while he was working for a Department in charge of Justice. Imagine what he can do with a whole Department in charge of Security?

Oh, and by the way... How did this guy happen to become a millionaire? Could it be his defense of "allegedly" crooked HMO's? Or his rulings in their favour as a judge? As with Kerik, lotsa questions here. Will the ball-less Dems ask them?
