U.S. HAS GAS . . . FOR NOW

.
BIG AWL PUTS ON THE BIG SQUEEZE

OILY DUBYA CAINT DO NUTHIN' 'BOUT IT, YAWL

McClinton Says "I'll Give Ya Some Pennies"

Well. Here we are again. I TOLD you to stop & ask for directions!!! We've been down this road so many times, you'd think we'd know the way, by now. But here we are, in our fat-assed American gas-guzzlers: Trucks, no less, cuz reg'l'r cars caint suck up gas fast enuff. Just waitin' for gas rationing. Watching the signs hit $4/gal. While we fight and die for the oil companies and their good buddies in Saudi Arabia. And the polar ice caps melt right into our living rooms. And the economy goes right down the tubes. And people start starvin' all over the world, so we can use their food to make fuel. Yup. Good thing we didn't listen to them tree-huggers. They threaten our way of life!

This is the result of forty years of extreme Right Republican & "Centrist" right-wing DINO leadership. We've known since the 60s that we needed to get off oil. But oil runs our political machine. We will never get off oil as long as that is true. There has to be a fundamental change in our political system before we can make positive changes to the economy, the environment, foreign policy or anything else.

It's simple. Americans need to get up off their fat lazy timid & cynical asses, and take control of what's left of our democracy. The Republican Party has been nothing but a corporate shell since the 1920's, if not before. Given our two-Party system, that leaves the Democrats. They've become almost as bad as the Republicans, but there is still enough left there to be worth saving.

We'd never get the Republican Party out of the clutches of the corporations. And third Parties just don't work in this country: Wallace, Anderson, Perot, Nader all proved that. It's time to get serious and make the existing system work for us, instead of wasting time, money and energy fighting it, trying to reinvent the wheel. Enough, already. Time to grow up, take back our lives, and get to work on our biggest problems. Now.

I think we'd have a better chance of taking over the Democratic Party, also, by starting at the local level. Bring ten friends down to the local Democratic Party headquarters, right there in your town or neighborhood, and demand that they represent you, and not the corporations.

Volunteer time, donate money, vote, run for Party and local political offices. In other words, participate. After all, our world is not run by gods. It's run by us: Unless we fail to show up, and let somebody else run it, against our best interests. This is what's happening now. Let's stop it before we all end up as landless serfs in a corporate feudal State, run on oil.

It's not enough to just vote for Obama or anybody else. If we don't stay on their asses, watching them and protecting them from evil influences, we might as well not vote at all. We have to stay involved, actively, or it will all go to hell again. And this time, it'll be a real Hell.

Coincidentally, I just ran into a "petroleum [social] engineer" on The Economist's site. He so funny!

An oil company is in general not an energy company.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha!!!

Our gas has been going up up up. I know it's not as costly here as where you are, but it's making a hit on the ole pocketbook!

Hey, Ms OWL. Howzit goin'? Good to see you here.

Sorry to hear about your gas prices. Hawaii & California usually have the highest gas prices in the country by far, but lately yawl are catching up. We're actually only 4th in the nation now.

San Francisco hit $3.99; LA $3.88. Chicago & NY hit $3.83/gal yesterday. Gary, IN $3.74 (watch out, Barack). Seattle, WA $3.73. Honolulu $3.72. $3.60 in Charlotte, NC (Uh-oh).

These are LOWEST prices for these areas, BTW. [Gulp.] The highest in the country was $4.43 in Goleta, CA, near Santa Barbara. Missouri is actually second lowest in the nation: A mere[!] $3.43. Columbia, MO was $3.35. So, kwitcherbitchin'! (It's only going to get worse.)

All figures from GAS BUDDY. Check it out:
