NO CHILD'S BEHIND LEFT

Wasn't the genesis of this program somewhere in the early anti-social-promotion era? And wouldn't that mean exactly the opposite of no child left behind? Bush is famous for double-talk, but this is doubleplusungood talk, right out of 1984: War Is Peace, Freedom Is Slavery, Ignorance is Education.

The only thing the Repukes really want to do about public education is dismantle it. The rich HATE the idea of a few of their dollars going back to the people they stole it from, or squeezed it out of. Old people, sick people, other people's kids can go to hell, in the conservative philosophy. Brush aside all the bullshit about self-reliance, and you find a rich guy living on tax breaks and government contracts, pointing the finger at somebody of another class, race or religion, and trying to disenfranchise them.

Which is fine: If only they'd drop the double-talk, and just be honest about it. "We hate niggers. Vote for us if you do, too." I mean, that was the message of Bush I's Willie Horton ads, right? And all that horseshit about "welfare queens" from the ur-idiot, Reagan? And Nixon's thinly veiled "law and order" racism? It wouldn't do to be so honest, though. Racism in America has largely gone underground, with talk about "Quota Queens," and "Political Correctness." Say "bitch" or "nigger" in the office, and you're toast. Yer white male really feels oppressed, these days. So he gets in his roadragemobile, covertly tunes in Radio Free Limbaugh, and vents his frustration on the first liberal Volvo he sees. Then, once every four years, he slinks down to the polls and votes the straight Republican ticket, in the spirit of a black church bombing in the night, which he doesn't QUITE have the guts for.

If Bush talking about fiscal responsibility is like Tony Soprano talking about Law & Order, then Bush talking about education is like David Duke talking about Civil Rights. SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!
