I had something in a "Turkish" restaurant here last year. All Middle Eastern restaurants are now "Mediterranean," "Greek," or "Turkish." They're usually Arabs, though. It's like a lot of the Moroccan and Tunisian restauarants in Paris: Many of them are Algerian, but they don't want their windows broken by some Vet. Or some younger right-wing punks.
Speaking of identity, my friends and I couldn't figure out what the spice was in the chicken, so we asked. It was a very small amount of cinnamon, and other regular chicken spices. You couldn't exactly taste the cinnamon, but it gave the chicken a great, and unusual flavour. I'd never had cinnamon cooked in anything but sweet stuff, so I was pleasantly surprised. At least, I didn't KNOW I was eating cinnamon before. Turns out it's in a lot of things. Good. It's one of my favorite flavours. Or aromas, or whatever it is.
I've found a few cinnamon recipes on the 'Net. It seems that everyone but us cooks everything with cinnamon, not just desserts. About the only US cinnamon recipes I found were "ethnic," or pork. Or both. I love a good ethnic pork joke. Ha-hah. Can't vouch for any of these recipes. Let us know if they're any good.
