TORTURE MUSIC
U.S. USES MUSIC AS TORTURE
SOME SEE TORTURE AS MUSIC
Torture In Music But No Music In Torture
In America, we all grew up naively believing that we were a great country, a nation that was dedicated to everything good, a people who could do no wrong. Our government was the best in the world, our military was second to none, full of principled men and women who believed in death before dishonor, who swore to uphold our values of liberty, justice and equality, fair treatment, the rule of law and basic human rights.
And then we grew up. From President George Washington firing upon veterans he'd commanded as the leader of the colonial army, to Barack Obama continuing the policies of George W. Bush that he'd been elected to change, America is not now and never has been a thoroughly honorable country. Ask any Indian, any descendant of slaves, any Latino, any Inuit, any Hawaiian, any Puerto Rican, any Filipino, any blue collar worker, any woman, any homosexual, any poor person, any disabled person.
OK, we can change that. We have changed that. But the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. And we have not been vigilant. We have allowed terrible things to go on behind our backs. Because we had the power to stop them and did not, we are responsible, now that we know about them. Now the responsibility falls upon us for all that has been done in our name over the last decade. If we do not stop these terrible things from being done in our name, and prosecute those who did them, we are responsible.
Barack Obama has decided to keep the Guantanamo concentration camp open. He has decided to use military tribunals to try civilians and "non-combatants," in violation of international law. He has reneged on a promise to release photographs of American soldiers torturing prisoners of war for political purposes. He has fudged on whether he will continue to use torture. He has ordered his CIA chief to lie about lying to Congress, and to attack the Speaker of the House, a fellow "liberal" Democrat, for exposing the lies and opposing torture. He has promoted former Vice President Dick Cheney's chief assassin & torturer to command our armed forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has refused to investigate or prosecute torture, murder, treason, theft and fraud perpetrated upon the American people and the world. Now that he is in power, Obama is effectively no different than Bush, from defense to the economy, from law enforcement to the separation of Church and State.
Right now we have to stop Obama's slide to the right. If he does not end the war and the torture, and prosecute those who committed crimes while in power under the previous Administration, we have no choice but to withdraw our support and remove him from office in 2012. Even after our great progressive victory at the polls in November 2008, the radical right wing minority who control the government and the media will continue to squawk and lie and call us all a leftist fringe. But we are the majority. Without election fraud or repression, they cannot stop us from exercising our powers, rights and responsibilities as citizens.
Number one, we must close Gitmo, stop the torture and prosecute the torturers.
And quit using our MUSIC to HURT people, you sick bastards!

"Stop Torture Music"
Check this out.
' On the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights musicians are uniting against the use of music to torture by joining www.ZerodB.org The Zero dB project (zero decibels = silence) was launched today by legal charity Reprieve which represents over 30 prisoners in Guantanamo Bay. Many of Reprieve’s clients - and hundreds more held in US secret prisons across the world - have been subjected to deafening music played for hours, days and often months on end in order to ‘break’ them. Zero dB aims to stop torture music by encouraging widespread condemnation of the practice and by calling on governments and the UN to uphold and enforce the Convention Against Torture and other relevant treaties. Zero dB is backed by the Musicians Union which is calling on British musicians to voice their outrage against the use of music to torture. The UN and the European Court of Human Rights have banned the use of loud music in interrogations, but it is still being widely used. Prisoners describe the experience as harder to bear even than physical torture. '

"Musicians tell US to ban using songs as torture"
Now they know how Chrissie Hynde feels whenever she hears "Back To Ohio" on the Limbo show.
' The list of bands whose music is used to torture prisoners in Guantanamo Bay reads like a grim roll call of American pop culture. Metallica, Britney Spears and even the Sesame Street theme tune have all been blasted into cells at Camp X-Ray, with the intention of traumatising and destabalising its inhabitants. But a new anti-torture initiative called Zero dB is hoping to bring an end to the technique by gathering the support of musicians whose songs are used in controversial interrogation techniques by US forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay. Reprieve, the human rights charity that provides legal representation for inmates at Guatanamo bay, is behind the campaign. "In the long-term, we hope raising awareness of this issue will pressurise the United Nations and the British government to uphold the treaties that ban the use of torture," said Reprieve's press officer Alex Grace. "But we also hope that the campaign will attract the attention of high-profile musicians who are willing to speak out against this incredibly horrible form of no-touch psychological torture." '

Music soothes the savage breast. But not the civilized one. Not this music.
' Music has been used in American military prisons and on bases to induce sleep deprivation, "prolong capture shock," disorient detainees during interrogations—and also drown out screams. Based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, here are some of the songs that guards and interrogators chose. '
NOT SAFE FOR CHURCH, even with ear-buds! This music was played non-stop 24/7/52 at FULL blast into tiny cells and interrogation chambers non-stop CONSTANTLY, for months on end, in order to drive prisoners mad. It worked. Several committed suicide. Others lied to interrogators just to make it stop, and our troops suffered the consequences. In some cases, innocent civilians were tortured not for military or security reasons, but for partisan political purposes only, on direct orders from the Republican White House. These are some of the songs the torturers played to torment their prisoners, in violation of all rules, laws, treaties and social norms. Not to mention common decency:
