A FIELD GUIDE TO THE REPUBLICANS

.
OR, HOW TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB

WHEREIN WE ATTEMPT TO PLUMB THE DEPTHS OF THAT WHICH CONSERVATIVES ARE PLEASED TO CALL THEIR MINDS

Carry This With You Whenever You Go To A Public Toilet At The Airport

Here are a few clues for translating current Republicans and Republicanisms into terms that a human being may understand. Please do not contemplate this list for more than ten minutes at a time, as severe hemmorhoids may ensue.

1. AYN RAND: Well, they have to jerk off to something.

2. RONALD REAGAN: Not the monkey. The other one.

3. NEWT GINGRICH: His first wife's tombstone says, "I'd rather be here than in bed with Newtie."

4. RUSH LIMBAUGH: Everything you ever wanted to know about flatulence.

5. GEORGE "DUBYA" BUSH: This year's winner of our annual "Free Trip To The Hague Contest." Dubya? Dubya? Where'd he go?

6. DICK ARMEY: Make up your mind: You want dick or you want army?

7. GLENN BECK: The poster boy for psychiatric bloat.

8. MICHELLE BACHMAN: Turn'er overdrive, boys!

9. BILL FRIST: Rhymes with fist. Make your own joke.

10. JOHN BOEHNER: See Number 9.

11. SARAH PALIN: The official Seventh Sign of the Apocalypse! Collect 'em all!

12. ANTONIN SCALIA: Once rejected by La Cosa Nostra as insufficiently humane.

13. LOU DOBBS: How is it possible for one man to be wrong so many times?

14. BOBBY JINDAL: On the other hand, maybe Dobbs has a point...

15. ANN COULTER: Recently married her douche bag. Hey, no one else asked.

16. COLIN POWELL: Remember that chicken who voted for Colonel Sanders?

17. BRUCE WILLIS: At last, someone who can shame even New Jersey.

18. BILL O'REILLY: Yo, Bill, yer Mom called: She wants her protoplasm back.

19. RANDALL TERRY: Ironically, he's the best argument ever for abortion. Just ask his mother.

20. MICHAEL STEELE: Doing a great job as GOP Chairman, despite the fact that his candidates keep turning their dogs loose on him.

MICHAEL "SAVAGE" WEINER, TERRORIST?

.
RIGHT-WING HATE-MONGER TARGETS LEGITIMATE MEDIA CRITICS

YOUTUBE: MEDIA MATTERS
"A Savage Nation Indeed"
The Weiner speaks!

RABID CONSERVATIVE THREATENS TO POST "ENEMIES" PHOTOS & "OTHER INFORMATION"

Talk Radio Network & Clear Channel Communications, Like News Corp's Fox News, Tries To Intimidate Moderates & Progressives

These are not idle threats or harmless pranks. We've seen people murdered after being targeted by these Nazi wannabee's. Their threadbare ideology is based upon anger and hatred and violence. Many "conservatives" worship guns and threaten to kill anyone who would take them away. Right-wing extremists in America have perpetrated more violent acts and killed more people than the Left ever did, by far. Al Qaida is nothing compared to the Aryan Nation, the American Nazi Party, the Ku Klux Klan, et al. They've been around for over a hundred years, shooting and bombing, burning and lynching, terrorizing and intimidating the whole country.

Now the Right has taken control of much of our public airwaves. 24/7/52 they spew hatred and foment violence all across the nation on the radio and on TV. It's not just political bluster or ideological blather now. It's stalking and targeting and calling for violence against civilians and government officials, even the President of the United States. If anyone on the Left had even hinted at this sort of thing, they would have been shut down and locked up long ago.

In a way, the Left is complicit in all this. By failing to use the legitimate tools of the law, they are allowing a spark to become a flame. If Obama and company do not do something about this media-inspired threat, the flame may become a conflagration. That is the expressed intent of the political arsonists on the Right. It needs to be stopped now, legally.

Here's what Spocko had to say about the recent terroristic threats by Michael Savage against Media Matters, and the Left's response. Read the whole story on his site:

SPOCKO'S BRAIN
"Privacy, Violent Rhetoric and Talk Radio: Michael Savage Edition "
Spocko nail the Weiner right on it's head.
' Just how close do we have to be to RTLM (Hutu Power Radio) for anyone to see the parallel and say, "That's enough, the people making these kind of threats are off the air for good."? (You might recall from your watching of Hotel Rwanda that the hosts at RTLM gave information on where the Tutsis were located after talking about crushing the Tutsis like cockroaches. Note: those hosts are now serving jail time for war crimes.) Is it going to take a few more murders of the targets of right wing talk radio host's ire for someone to act? And by someone I mean their own management. And if management doesn't act, showing us in writing the warnings to Savage along with his signed agreement posted on his website that he won't do this, then they need to pay a financial price. That is the only thing that might get them to act. The government will not act unless the EXACT right type of murder or violent assault happens. I don't think that will ever happen. Savage knows he needs to avoid certain words and phrases. He knows that unless it is spoken in-person to the person carrying out the murder the people defending the hosts will work on the "he has his right to free speech!" line. All talk radio and TV hosts know this, so they dance around it and practically demand that the people on the LEFT defend them. '

OUR RESPONSE:

You're just trying to get our hopes up with that story about RTLM, aren't you? Of course, some of us would have to be hacked to death first, but, as long as it isn't me, it's worth it.

Actually, we've had laws against this sort of thing for a long time. They've been "reading the Riot Act" since 1792, aka the Militia Act in the US, now chapter 15 of title 10, United States Code. Peaceful speakers at rallies that got out of hand (usually due to agents provocateurs or police over-reaction) have been prosecuted and even killed just for speaking. Four anarchist leaders were hung just for not discouraging violence in the Haymarket Affair in 1886. The Chicago Seven were charged with "conspiracy" after the police rioted against them in 1968. I think the right deserves a taste of this very old medicine, which is still on the books. It would even be fair, for once. We don't have to actually hang them. We're still liberals. Lethal injection would be fine. After a fair trial, of course.

Howard Stern and Infinity Broadcasting have been fined millions of dollars for his harmless adolescent antics. Several of the broadcast TV 'Nets have been fined for various audio & video "accidents" which merely titillated some and offended others in the audience. The same laws could be used against NewsCorp & ClearChannel, but Obama is not changing Bushco policies on giving the Right a free pass. The law specifically forbids: "Unauthorized, unfair, biased, illegal broadcasts (does NOT include Obscene, Profane or Indecent material)" as well as "Broadcast programs showing obscene, profane, and/or indecent material."

The FEC could also be investigating the endless free campaign commercials on behalf of the GOP disguised as programming by the right-wing 'Nets, but they're not. Violations can be reported in online complaint forms from both agencies, but I've yet to hear of any action.

Part of the problem is, there are just so bloody many of these hate-mongers and rabble-rousers; and they have so many sponsors. Taking action against all of them is impossible, and taking action against just a few of them is ineffectual. Some major action has to be initiated by Obama, or by a citizens' group to make a huge example of one of the main instigators of right-wing terror. They have the RICO Act, the Patriot Acts, the FCC regulations the "Riot Act" and the campaign finance laws. They don't need any new laws. They do need political will.

The thing is, the very same media outlets control, manipulate and distort perceptions of public opinion to the point where the Democrats don't seem to realize that they are in the majority, and that most of us are sick of Savage and his ilk, and want to know why they haven't been shut down. We have to find a way to break through the Blue Dog & Clinton-Bush appointee wall of silence, and demand that Obama do something, while he still can.

He's never going to make friends with these nutjobs. And why should he? They're only 5 or 10% of the electorate, at most. The other 90% are tired of their incitements to violence, fighting words and crying fire in a crowded theater. We need to make the FCC, FEC, FBI and Homeland Security stop them now, before we have a Kristallnacht or a Reichstag Fire. Or worse. That's what we're headed for, if we don't do something about it. How far would an extreme left-wing nutjob get with these kinds of threats and incitements to violence? How many doctors and nurses have to die before these terrorist Republican mullahs have their electronic madrassah's shut down?

SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER
"Savage threatens to post photos, 'pertinent information' of his critics"

' Here's the quote: I am calling upon all people in the media who have been harassed by this Stalinist group, Media Matters, to join forces and publish the names of the people in Media Matters and put their pictures up on their Web sites. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. In the next few weeks you can expect me on michaelsavage.com to give you full pictures and other pertinent information about the individuals who are conducting a campaign against Michael Savage and other conservatives in the media. Let's see how they like it. But isn't it interesting that this staunch defender of the First Amendment is trying to bully other people from their lawful exercise of that right? I guess he supports free speech as long as it's speech with which he agrees. What's also interesting to me is the "other pertinent information" part. What information could that be? Their favorite color? How about address, where they work, that sort of thing? You know, the type of information that would be needed by someone if they were, say, stalking a person? So, Savage, go ahead and post that information. But you'd better drop on your knobby knees and pray that none of your mouth-breathing followers gets it in their head to "avenge" the "wrongs" done to you by your "enemies." Or do you like the way you look in stripes? '

REPUBLICANS SELF-DESTRUCT

.
2012 PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS "P*SSY" OUT

ENSIGNsanford2012 Copyright 2009 Cosanostradamus blog me no blogs

ENSIGN & SANFORD FALL ON THEIR PORK-SWORDS

It's A Sign! The Conservatards Know It's Thuh Ay-Und Tahms! SHA-ZAAAAM!!!

Layers of the Onion: First we had soap-opera "Senator" Mark Ensign pretending his former whore for hire was "blackmailing" him. Now we have dorky cracker *ssh*le Mark Sanford, soon-to-be-former Governor of South Carolina and libertarian loon disappearing for almost a week, then resurfacing in a huge pool of bullsh*t.

First his aides said they didn't know where the State's Chief Executive and Commander of the SC National Guard was. In time of war! Then they said they could contact him, but still didn't know where he was. Then they said he was, get this, HIKING on the Appalachian Trail! How stupid are Southrons, anyhoo, that the Guv's lackeys thought they'd believe that? Next, the wayward CEO resurfaced after his SUV was spotted at the Atlanta airport. He claimed, assininely, that he had been in A-R-G-E-N-T-I-N-A ! ! ! Licking Evita's bones, no doubt. Less than a full day later, the retard who was sued by his own Party for refusing Obama's stimulus funds says, naw, I was eatin' ch*cha! All righty, then! WHAT'S NEXT???!!!

The best part: Both conservative Republican Nevada Senator John Ensign AND conservative Republican South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford called for Bill Clinton's resignation when he was caught cheating. Think they'll resign now that they've BOTH been caught cheating? These are the people you f**king IDIOT conservatards WORSHIP. If only you were smart enough to feel stupid! Could you please go crawl up your own conservative *sses and stay there? Thankee! Much obliged!

BWAWWAWAWAHAWHAWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAHAHAWWAAAAA!!!!!

"Sanford's only the latest GOP rising star to crash and burn"
Grand Old Pissants.
' A number of potential Republican presidential candidates recently have suffered missteps or other circumstances that threaten to shake up the race long before it formally begins. They range from the most politically lethal — public confession of extramarital affairs — to less serious setbacks, such as a botched speech just as the world was watching, or being tapped to serve in the Obama administration. Each of these incidents underscores the high stakes for a party searching eagerly for a new leader to fight back against the Democrats who control Congress and the White House . '

THE NEVADA APPEAL
"Group says Sen. Ensign violated ethics rules"
Mr. Family values used campaign contributions and/ or taxpayer money to pay his whore, aand her husband, and her child.
' A watchdog group alleged Wednesday that Sen. John Ensign violated the Senate's ethics rules by engaging in an affair with a campaign aide who was married to his administrative assistant, then terminating their employment. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington also said Ensign, R-Nev., violated ethics and campaign finance rules by failing to report a severance payment to the woman as an in-kind contribution from his campaign or leadership political action committee. Ensign acknowledged last week that he had a consensual affair with a campaign staffer from December 2007 through August 2008. The group followed through Wednesday on an earlier announcement that it would be filing a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee. While Ensign stressed the word consensual in his disclosure, Melanie Sloan, executive director of the watchdog group, said the ethics committee needs to investigate whether sexual harassment had occurred. She said it's well established that sexual harassment is a form of discrimination that Senate rules don't allow. Sloan also said that payments to the couple involved, Doug and Cynthia Hampton, merited investigation. '

NBC NEWS: WMBF MYRTLE BEACH, SC
"Sanford: Met with mistress on taxpayer funded trip"
"No stimulus money for schools." The Governor needs the money for whores.
' Following Gov. Mark Sanford's tearful confession of cheating on his wife Wednesday, questions continue to surface as to whether Sanford's trips to Buenos Aires were taxpayer-funded. In a public confession among a pool of reporters and photographers at the statehouse, Sanford admitted to seeing the Argentine woman, known only as "Maria," three times over their yearlong affair. Kara Borie, spokeswoman for the South Carolina Department of Commerce, confirmed Thursday afternoon taxpayer money was used to fund a Brazil trade and investment mission in which Sanford was present for on June 21-28, 2008. "A number of the participants from the Brazil trade and investment mission, at the invitation and suggestion of Secretary Taylor and at their own personal expense, went to Cordoba, Argentina, following the Brazil mission to go bird hunting," Borie added. LET'S LOCK UP THE RIGHT WING

.
IT'S TIME TO USE THEIR BAD LAWS AGAINST THEM

RUSH LIMBAUGH, NEWT GINGRICH, PAT ROBERTSON ALL BELONG IN GITMO

Fire Up The Patriot Acts, The RICO Act, And The New Hate Crimes Law Before More Innocent People Are Killed

It would only be justice, poetic justice, if the conservatives were hoist on their own "law & order" petard. They never imagined that laws designed to suppress legitimate dissent, circumvent Constitutional protections of the liberty and property of the accused, and make life easier for the thugs in government could ever be used against them. But they can and they should be used right now and for many years to come to bust up the right-wing redneck & corporate conspiracy to overthrow our democratic government and tear up our freedom-loving Constitution, BEFORE they manage to do that. We'll give them plenty of time to appeal, if conservative judges don't find their pleadings frivolous. But they can sit in safe, helpless silence in Guantanamo while they wait for judgment, just like some of their victims.

Here's the conversation I had recently with Chris Edelson of The Seminal.com, on the subject of "What is the best way to respond to the murder of Dr. George Tiller?"

[CHRIS EDELSON]:
' As I have written, I have been trying to figure out what the best way is to respond to the murder of Dr. George Tiller. I continue to be amazed by the rhetoric of the extreme anti-abortion side (which has managed to appear mainstream, thanks in large part to support from the Republican party). One commenter in this blog claims that Dr. Tiller’s murder was a completely justified “execution”, just punishment for the killings he supposedly committed. I think there are a number of things that are necessary–starting with some long overdue leadership from Republicans who need to stop legitimizing extremism by making clear that it is dangerous and over the line to equate abortion with murder (the Republican party platform suggests that abortion is murder). I’d also like to hear from women who have had abortions so we can get past the caricatured notion that women casually decide to terminate pregnancies. I’m curious to know what others think–please vote in the poll on the side of this page, and leave your comments here: what’s the best way to respond to this despicable act, and how do we take action to prevent more doctors and health care providers from being killed? '

I think we’ve just been way too damned tolerant of intolerance. Other countries have laws that address this sort of terrorism-enabling & inspiring. In fact, we do too: Haven’t Americans who merely send money to charities connected to political organizations in the Middle East been arrested and charged with terrorism? How are these radical anti-choice groups any different? Or the churches and political Parties that support them?

Either we have absolute freedom of speech, or we apply the legal strictures of the same laws in the same way to everyone. Anyone who commits or threatens to commit violence or aggravated harassment of women and their doctors, gays and their children, immigrants, minorities, the disabled or any other real or perceived group should be arrested, charged, tried, convicted, sentenced and imprisoned for a very long time: Life, in the worst cases. Those who support them financially or politically should be treated the same way we treat supporters of Hamas, including national religious leaders and elected officials.

The new hate crimes legislation should be used along with anti-terror laws to round up the worst elements of this “pro-life” mafia, and to put the rest of them on notice. Media outlets that disseminate their violence-inspiring filth should be fined or de-licensed. There really needs to be a very tough crackdown. Every element of our arts & media, our academic and religious organizations, our legal and political establishment, labor and business associations should be called upon to condemn the hate and the terror, and to demand swift justice in every case. It has to be established as an invariable principle: Promoting violence is against the law and will be prosecuted and punished severely in every case. No more tolerance for intolerance.

[CHRIS EDELSON]:
' Thanks for the comment–I think this is very much worth thinking about. I am a staunch free speech advocate and will defend anyone’s peaceful speech, but speech protections are mot absolute, as Justice Holmes made clear nearly a 100 years ago with his famous “you can’t shout fire in a crowded theater” example. It is not ok to use speech to incite imminent violence or unlawful action, as the Supreme Court ruled in the 1969 Brandenburg case that sets the standard. I don’t think legal action is the only way to respond though–it is still lawful for someone to say, in the abstract, that abortion is murder. So the solution here requires something beyond legal action. That’s why I think it is very important for supposedly responsible leaders to condemn this type of speech. Justice Holmes noted that the best response to free speech you disagree with is counterspeech. In this case, I think responsible Republican elected officials, if they truly are responsible people, have a duty to disclaim the incendiary rhetoric from their party platform and to make clear that it is over the line to say abortion is murder and to call doctors who perform abortions mass murderers. There is a way to change the way the abortion debate plays out, and the Republican party has a responsibility to speak out, given the fact that it has helped mainstream the radical anti-abortion movement. '

Agreed. That’s what I meant, in part, when I said that I thought all segments of society should condemn this. I do not, however, expect many Republicans/ conservatives/ fundamentalists to join in. They’re too busy using deliberately inflammatory language and outrageous actions for their own political purposes. That’s why I think the best example would be set by arresting them.

I don’t like the trend in the law toward less rights and more government power. But the RICO Act, the Patriot Acts and this new Hate Crime law could be used to bust up what is by any definition a highly organized if ostensibly diffuse conspiracy designed to generate fear and violence toward their political enemies. From George W. Bush to Eric Rudolph, from Pat Robertson to Scott Roeder, from Rush Limbaugh to Michael Griffin there are links in a chain that has purposely been created, a “movement,” they call it. The Justice Department and Homeland Security should be going after this “movement” with all the vigor and force of law they usually reserve for “leftist” conspirators.

Even if they fail to convict everyone in the chain, they could bust it up, and put the real fear of God in the irresponsible and cynical movement leaders. I’d love to see Dick Cheney or Sean Hannity sitting in the same dock that once held Abbie Hoffman or Daniel Berrigan. The government had no compunction about prosecuting and harassing a movement and a perceived leadership they happened to disagree with, if only because it was in opposition to that government. Let’s see Obama do the same to these actual murderers and their co-conspirators.

As to the civil liberties issues, they will win out in the end, as they should. But, in the meantime, every one of these reprehensible rabble-rousers could be put on notice, have their lives disrupted, and maybe spend some time in the pokey for their intentionally inspirational words and deeds. Fighting words, shouting fire in a crowded theater, obscenity, calling for violence against the government, verbal harassment and terroristic threatening are all already illegal. Let’s see some pre-emptive prosecutions of the Right, for a change, for the lesser crimes they commit every day, before more innocent people die in lawful pursuit of their own rights.

THAI ONE ON

.
DEMOCRACY TAKES TO THE STREETS IN BANGKOK & NEW YORK

INSTANT THAI TEA PARTY Copyright 2009 Cosanostradamus blog me no blogs

THAI VOTERS UNHAPPY WITH POLITICAL GAMES BRING NATION TO HALT;
AMERICAN FAUX-POPULISTS STAGE CORPORATE-SPONSORED "TEA PARTIES" TO AVOID PAYING TAXES

YOUTUBE
"City Hall Tea Party Protest (NYC) 15"
Laid-off stockbrokers at lunchtime?

International Conference Called Off Due To Street Demonstrations In Pataya; Nothing-Burger In D.C.

In Thailand, they don't sit idly by while corrupt incompetent politicians destroy their country and their way of life. They storm the barricades, push back the army and the police, and shut down business and government. Until the will of the people is obeyed, the people obey no man's will.

It seems like a good system. It might be hard to manage in the United States, for a number of reasons. We're a much bigger country, in area and population. It would be difficult to organize a nationwide protest of this nature on an American scale. We're nowhere near as concentrated or centralized as Thailand. Shutting down just Washington DC or New York City wouldn't do it. Mounting simultaneous actions in all the major cities and every State capitol would be nearly impossible, not only logistically but culturally as well. Our very diversity works against mass action on a national scale.

It might not be possible to organize a nation-wide strike of Southern farmers and Northern businessmen, Midwestern factory workers and West Coast professionals, "flinty" New Englanders and "redneck" Texans, conservative Montanans and liberal New Jerseyans, blacks, whites, Asians, Latino's, Native Americans, immigrants, college grads, high school drop-outs, men, women, gays, straights, old, young, Fundamentalists, mainline Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox, Jews, Muslims, Hindu's, Buddhists, agnostics, atheists, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Greens, urban, rural, suburban, and exurban Americans.

Even if it were possible, most of the major cities have large forces of crack riot police, and contingency plans that involve the use of deadly force even on peaceful demonstrators. If the local cops could not be counted on to slaughter their own citizens, there is always the State militia, the National Guard, and the regular Army. They have shown a willingness to kill Americans with whom they disagreed politically in the past. And their political masters have no compunction about ordering them to fire on Americans.

There are other ways of bringing a system to a halt. A more workable alternative might be a passive protest, a refusal to work or shop or attend school or travel or invest or comply with regulations or pay taxes. A jamming of phone lines and Internet hubs. Blocking key traffic points in our already gridlocked transportation networks. Cell phones and the Internet could be used to organize localized action on a hit & run basis. Counter-propaganda could be created and disseminated to encourage support for such actions. But coordination would be required that has never existed in the United States, until recently. Coordination requires access to the media. But the media are now entirely controlled by and subservient to the corporations. The faux-populist "movement" know as the Tea Parties is coming from the Right, the recently ousted "Establishment," not the Left.

In Thailand, disruptive actions are being funded by a former Prime Minister who was removed from power for corruption some years ago, and banned from the political process. He has taken it upon himself to disrupt the new government at every turn: First getting two of his own puppets installed as Prime Minister, and then organizing street protests against his puppets' subsequent removal. Poor Thai farmers from the Southeast Asian backwoods are being paid to jam the cities and bring the nation to a halt, while counter-demonstrations against such anti-democratic and corrupt actions have only resulted in a more perfect gridlock. The army and the police do nothing.

There is the possibility of similar action here. The American corporate propaganda network is being used right now to try to effect some sort of nation-wide protest against the US government. Not for the benefit of the people, but for the corporations, who don't want to pay their taxes, even though they wallow in government money themselves. Naive and under-educated fools are being manipulated by the tame corporate media to help the corps keep our money, as in the Bush years.

The corporate leadership of the inchoate racist anti-democratic forces that failed to steal the most recent Presidential & Congressional Elections has been trying to find a way of continuing to destroy the way of life of average Americans ever since "liberal" black Democrat Barack Obama and his allies trounced them at the polls and ran them out of Washington. All the radical Right can do now is attempt sabotage. Much of their support is coming from a foreign businessman, Australian crypto-Nazi Rupert Murdoch, and his cohorts among America's corporate closet Fascists. Fox News has been turned into a kind of rebel radio station broadcasting from the fringes, calling for political assassinations and jamming of the machinery of government.

Why has there been no government action? No investigations, no arrests, no shut-down of these saboteurs? Why have the people not risen up against it? Are Americans so soul-dead that they cannot move a muscle in defense of their own country, their own way of life? Apparently, yes.

"Thailand's "red shirts" revel after summit shutdown"
Now here's a TEA Party! But, as in America, for the wrong side, and guided by the rich.
' Barrelling through a thin line of troops, hundreds of red-shirted anti-government protesters in Thailand hurtled through a plate glass window -- and tumbled into the venue of the East Asia summit. "We've won -- the summit is over," shouted Aey, one of "red shirts" who support ousted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. "We'll return to Bangkok now, to rejoin the protest there," she added. "We'll finally get Abhisit out." The protesters say Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, who came to office four months ago through parliamentary defections engineered by the army, is "illegitimate." Abhisit cancelled the summit after it was stormed and imposed a state of emergency to allow leaders to depart safely. Drivers and motorcyclists sounded horns while protestors on foot, wearing red bandannas, waved red flags and held aloft placards and pictures of Thaksin, who was ousted in a 2006 coup and is widely believed to be bankrolling the protests. '

YAHOO NEWS
"Rioting follows state of emergency in Thai capital"
"Change" you can get with larger bills.
' Ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, regarded by most of the protesters as their leader, called for a revolution and said he might return from overseas exile to lead it. "Now that they have tanks on the streets, it is time for the people to come out in revolution. And when it is necessary, I will come back to the country," he said in a telephoned message broadcast on loudspeakers to followers who surrounded the prime's minister office. Political tensions have simmered since Thaksin was ousted by a military coup in 2006 for alleged corruption and abuse of power. He remains popular for his populist policies in the impoverished countryside, while his opponents — many in urban areas — took to the streets last year to help bring down two pro-Thaksin governments, seizing Bangkok's two airports in November for about a week. '

FOX NEWS
"Tea Party Protests Create Online Sales Boom"
"Explosions" of sales that result in a net loss. A "grass-roots" movement funded by business. Push it, Fox, push it!
' Other independent retailers are reporting similar explosions in sales. "I'm not really positive what we've made this week -- we've been so busy packing things away," said Jay Taylor, COO of Patriot Depot, which sells conservative books and gear online. Taylor, who said tea party stickers and shirts are powering his "recession-proof" business, isn't giving all his proceeds away. "We are making a little money but we're definitely more concerned with getting the message out," he told FOXNews.com. Yet some organizers are seeing costs outweigh their profits -- and are choosing to operate at a loss. Taylor is partnering with the Augusta, Ga.-based Reagan.org to send tens of thousands of tea bags north to Washington for a massive tax day tea dump. Though Reagan.org is asking for about $1 per bag, they estimate they'll end up losing money in the transaction. "What we figure is that we'll probably end up losing a little bit of money on it," said Joshua Bolin, executive director of Reagan.org, who told FOXNews.com that his organization accepted requests to send 30,000 tea bags packing in just the first two days of its promotion. Sink or swim, profit or plunge, online purveyors have been taken aback by the success of their small business ventures. '

HEARST NEWSPAPERS: BEAUMONT ENTERPRISE, BEAUMONT, TEXAS
"Dozens protest taxes at "Tea Party" in Orange"
"Dozens"! WOW! That's WAY more than "TWO'S"! What a "broad-based" "popular" "movement"! Even though the right-wing media is giving out the organizers' schedules & phone numbers! Way to take a side, "journalists"!
' The Tea Party in Orange was part of a national movement. A number of the events will be held Wednesday, the day federal income taxes are due. In Beaumont, a gathering will be held beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Post Office on Walden Road near Interstate 10. More information is available through (409) 466-7063. '

BOYCOTT RUSH LIMBAUGH'S ADVERTISERS

.
CONSERVATIVES HATE AMERICA, WANT IT TO FAIL

RACIST RUSH IS RIGHT OF HITLER: STOP SUPPORTING HIS FAT ASS

YOUTUBE: FUXSNOOZE
"Rush hopes Obama fails pt 1"

Hillbilly-Heroin Addict? Spouse Abuser? Sexual Deviant? Foreign Agent? Fascist? Can It Be True?

Extreme Right-Wing AM Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh has stepped over the line one too many times. Now he has revealed that his agenda is to drag Americans down, destroy the economy, and mortally wound our democratic system. He has also revealed that he is now the leader, the brains, and the collective unconscious of the Republican Party. None there dare gainsay him, no matter how vile and extreme his belches of bile and venom. He is the uncensored id of the Republican Party, broadcasting all the wildly inappropriate things that the rest of them only think, but dare not say. He is a rabid racist, anti-Semite, misogynist, homophobe, nativist, sexist, sectarianist, classist, rabble-rousing Nazi-wannabee and corporate fascist. He needs to be run out of the country. Get him started by contacting his advertisers/ advertizers, sponsors/ sponsers and letting them know that you will NEVER buy any of their products again, as long as they advertise with the Rush Limbaugh Show. Do it now! STOP RUSH.

MARKETWATCH
"Ads rushing out of Limbaugh show?"
It's definitely do-able.
' Whether or not the boycott works to any meaningful degree is going to depend on how many more advertisers decide it is easier to switch than fight. According to radio buyers, some companies cave almost instantly in the face of even a little negative feedback while others need to experience a truly sustained and widespread level of complaints before they listen. Still, they don't have to get them all to make a difference: If enough advertisers put out the word that the show is a forbidden zone -- and they are not rapidly replaced -- the program will lose much of its economic value to local stations and station groups regardless of how well its audience numbers are doing. Of course, the already-loaded Limbaugh is never going to have trouble putting food on the table, but he and his fans could end up in less desirable timeslots or on fewer outlets. '

TALKING TO THE WALL

.
NOW WE HAVE RIGHT-WING AND CENTER-RIGHT TALKING POINTS

WILL THESE PEOPLE NEVER LEARN TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES?

They Need To Recognize That The Right Is The Minority In This Country, And That The Left Just Won All The Elections

By their bullsh*t, ye shall know them. The Clintonians are back, bad as ever. Like their dopplegangers who are out-of-the-closet Republicans, they come with their endless series of lies and bigger lies, trying to deny & distort a reality that rejects everything about them. They have failed again and again in their corporatist ambitions. Their way simply doesn't work. Nobody wants it. We just told them that, loudly, in the Primaries and in the General Election. Now here they are again with their ridiculous talking points, trying to win by stealth and deception what they couldn't win in a full, free, fair and open election: The hearts and minds of the majority of the American people, progressives all, and control of our brand spankin' new government's policies. Just say no. Just say "CHANGE!" Just keep saying it till they f*ck off.

MY ORIGINAL COMMENT ON OBAMA'S LATEST NOMINATIONS:

The (inside) joke about our financial markets is that they have ever been in any way "public," or for the benefit of the public. Any benefit we might enjoy is purely incidental to the real purpose of enriching & empowering the people who set up & run these markets, and then go on to "regulate" them. They're nothing but casino's, and only the house can ever win, in the long run, and on a regular basis. They've even put our homes on the craps table.

Anyone who doesn't see this, or deliberately denies it, is either a damned fool or a shill. Or both. Our capacity for self-delusion is not limited to those outside the markets. It must be easy to believe your own cons when they work so f*cking well.

The latest interest rate cuts, the last possible, will either finally enable us to borrow our own damned money again, or show even the blindest fool what the game is really all about, and who benefits from it. It'll be easy: They'll be the ones not homeless, jobless, hungry and without medical care. We'll be the other ones, still paying for it all.

Is Obama likely to do anything about this? Or is he simply going to tell us how we need to be tightening our already strangulating belts, believe in the system, and trust in him to fix it? Well, he's got the usual suspects already rounded up. They're all on his economic team.

Oh, wait. Didn't FuxSnooze say we were voting for socialism? Phew! For a minute there, I thought there was no way out of this!

Anybody know where those posse comitatus-exempt troops are, right now? Just askin'.

Well, cosanostradamus and all of you out there who seem to think that Obama is going to be just as bad as Bush or McCain, tell me, what should we do? If we decide to take to the streets, who would support us? And since we can't retroactively remove Obama and replace him with Dennis Kucinich, or Cynthia McKinney, or the bones of César Chávez (and good luck getting someone else to run in 2012, short of someone putting a bullet into Mr. Obama, though considering the crazies on the right who think he's the second coming of Karl Marx, not that they know anything about Marx anyway), I'd say that Mr. Obama is, at present, our best hope at restoring sanity.
--SOMEGUYon SomeBodyElse'sSite

What "we" should do is whatever each one of us thinks is right. If you think that just voting for a President once every four years, and then just sitting on your ass and letting him do whatever he wants, regardless of his promises or your interests, your thinking is dead wrong. If you think voting for somebody involves some sort of Anglo-Saxon medieval thralldom to him or her, you're dead wrong. Here's what I think: We elected these people to do our bidding, not to tell us why they can't or won't. We live in a representative democracy, not an autarchy-by-lottery. Once they are elected, they are responsible to us, and must carry out our will until we fire them. It's up to us to stay right behind them, carefully watching, pushing them, pulling for them, and kicking them in the ass as needed. That's our job, not to be good Germans.

That's what I want. But I also recognize that in the real world, that just ain't gonna happen. Powerful people excel at covering their own asses, and removing them from power usually means lots and lots of bloodshed. If you don't believe me, read the histories of the French and Russian Revolutions. Oh and tell me if you think what happened directly after those two events (the Reign of Terror and Soviet Russia) were any better than what had gone on before.
--SOMEGUYon SomeBodyElse'sSite

Yes, I do think that the reign of Terror and Soviet Russia were better than the Ancien Regime and the Czars. Too many people died, too many were oppressed, but those years represented a transition, and the stages that followed meant an end to that level of death & oppression: Fifty years of turmoil in France and seventy years of turmoil in Russia ended over a thousand years of oppression and exploitation. I don't think we should or need to go through any such violence and oppression to bring about change in the U.S. France and Russia did not have democracy to work with, we do. We just need to work with it. And I do mean work. This means actively participating all the time, not just in Presidential or Congressional elections. This means taking over our local political organizations and/ or forming new ones to return power to the grass-roots level. We need a bottom-up, not a top-down system. We're stuck with the "two-Party System," for now, so we need to use it to create a new system. Without a Party to control a Government, we have nothing. We must stay involved and take over the Parties. Electing Obama and creating the networks and mechanisms that helped him win is only step one. Step two is using those networks and mechanisms every day to help/ force Obama & Co to effect change.

Instead of surrendering, as we seem to be doing by saying we can't trust Mr. Obama to do much of anything, we can support him against the frivolous attacks that are already being launched on him and try to build the foundation of a better future. The GOP didn't get where they are overnight and it'll take us just about as long to set things straight, and we can only hope the next generation doesn't fall for conservative BS as ours did.
--SOMEGUYon SomeBodyElse'sSite

Speak for yourself. I didn't "fall for conservative BS," ever. My objections to Obama's very important steps and missteps so far are anything but "frivolous." And I don't consider "Mr. Obama" to be the answer to all of society's ills. He's nothing but a tool. If we leave him lying around, somebody else will make use of him, for their own purposes. I think that is already happening. And I think it is happening because people like you would have us fail to strike while the iron is hot, "giving him time"/ "waiting & seeing" etc, while the Permanent Government and the opportunists who represent only the Established Order jump in and gobble up every Cabinet post, every advisory position, every lever of power and every point of access to Obama that means anything, while people like you council us to be patient. F*ck that. My country can't afford any more of that sort of "patience," which is just the same old apathy, cowardice, laziness and muddle-headed thinking that gave Dubya eight freakin' years to destroy the World As We Knew It. Enough with your time-wasting: Lead, follow or get out of the way.

Not sure how I'm supposed to interpret that as anything other than "Obama's just as bad as the others, since he's picking the 'usual suspects'". I'm also not sure who it is you all want running things that hasn't already refused outright or indicated that they're better suited where they are (like Gore and Krugman).
--SOMEGUYon SomeBodyElse'sSite

Who do I want running things? Not conservatives, Republicans, ex-Republicans, reformed-Republicans, sorta-Republicans, neo-crypto-semi-demi-hemi-Republicans, DINO's, conservative "Democrats," "moderate" Democrats, corporatist Democrats, Wall Street Democrats, AIPAC Democrats, the DLC, "blue-dog" Democrats, Southern Democrats, Arkansas Democrats, Clintonistas, Hillbots, or any of the people who lost the Primary and the General Election because we voted AGAINST them. With all this talk about a "mixed" Cabinet, where is the even-slightly left of center Cabinet member, or top advisor to Obama? Name one. Just one. There's 300,000,000 people in this country; 6,000,000,000 people on this bloody planet. Let him pick at least 50% of his people from "outside Washington," as he promised. If, like they say, it's the people the President surrounds himself with who make or break him, apparently, "It" is Clinton and it's already broken. We all voted against that. Remember? Just last month?

And yes, I see this perpetual carping about "the usual suspects" as nothing more than whining, and worse, it's speculative whining, because the man isn't President yet.
--SOMEGUYon SomeBodyElse'sSite

In case you haven't noticed, Obama is already the President, to almost all intents and purposes. Except for some sneaky back-door moves by Dubya on his way out the door, the old regime has nearly closed up shop, and is letting everything go to Hell, now through the inauguration, even though Cheney still holds the keys & the codes. Obama, to his credit, is moving faster than any President-elect ever has in putting his Adminstration together. There will be no Clintonian inter-regnum of fumbled nominations, failed appointments and forgotten initiatives. But this means that, effectively, Obama has already started governing, and much of his government is being set in stone even as we speak. Now is not the time to stop speaking. Believe me, your erstwhile Clinton-faves are all rushing in to fill the vacuum you would have us leave. And let's not forget: The Clintons were an unmitigated disaster for the progressive movement in this country, a movement that has been stalled by forty years of Cons & DINOs. If we continue to "give them time" to take over the policy-making and implementing machinery of our government, we are in for four more years of "centrist," (i.e. Republican-Lite) Clintonian dithering and the end of "hope." It makes one wonder whose side you're on.

That's a pretty long list. Who does it leave, then? Got any specifics? And what criteria would you have for choosing them?

Mr. Clinton and Mr. Carter brought in a lot of non-Washington people and they got nothing but grief for it, and it hampered their ability to initiate a more liberal agenda. Mr. Clinton's failure on health care is a prime example of that. He was right, but didn't know how to work the system to get it done.

Mr. Obama isn't basing his cabinet decisions on ideological purity, he's basing them on their ability to do what he feels needs to be done. Whether you agree with these people's ideology isn't as relevant: I happen to agree with everything I say, but I wouldn't choose me for any position of responsibility because I know I wasn't up to it.

As for whose "side" I'm on, I'm on everyone's side. I want the world to be a better place for every human being on Earth. You don't get to that point by gauging everyone based on ideology.

And to address the side issue on this, I'm not saying people don't have the right to speak out, I'm saying that what some of you have been saying is speculative, whiny, and counterproductive. That's the great part about free speech, you state your opinion, I state mine.

If you want someone to go in the direction you want, you do it with deeds as well as words, by being pro-active as well as reactive. When FDR told the liberals of his day to "make him do it" that's what he meant. Stop whining and make Mr. Obama do it.
--SOMEGUYon SomeBodyElse'sSite

It seems to me that you're the one who is whining. Why don't you stop whining? All you do is regurgitate talking points you picked up in the tame corporate media, old, rank, stale sh*t going all the way back to the 70's.

If you can't think for yourself, don't bother repeating endlessly those ridiculous talking points. We've all heard them a thousand times. They always amount to this: "Do nothing. Trust the system. Left bad. "Center" good. Bullsh*t, plain & simple.

And if you think ideology means nothing, you aren't much at thinking. Carter and Clinton were incompetent DINO's without ideology. They compromised away any chance for change, just as you would do.

Even you admit Carter & Clinton accomplished nothing. Why give them another chance? As to other voices, try counting again: 300 million in America alone. 6 billion in the world at large.

Like I said, lead, follow or get out of the way. I'm already doing what I feel needs to be done, IRL. This is just a sideshow, as the name implies. Please do go on wasting your own time with your negativity, passivity and petty niggling. Yeah, you live on faith, not action. We get it. Now stop wasting our time. Go attack your conservative "friends" for all the harm they've done. The rest of us have real work to do, and whiners like you are just in the way.

GOD STRIKES REPUBLICANS DOWN

.
RIGHT-WING HYPOCRITS HIT BY LIGHTNING, THREE TIMES

MCCAIN TRIES & FAILS TO EXPLOIT HURRICANE VICTIMS; CONVENTION CURTAILED; VP BAD MOM, LIAR

Tame Corporate Media Spin All This As "A Good Thing"

Yeah. Right. Those "highly moral" born-agains & evangelicals, you know, the vast majority(?) of Americans(?) that are Republican(?) Jesus freaks, will love Palin & McCain even more now that they know Palin's family doesn't use birth control or STD-protection of any kind, and no sex-education, either. Of course, that will trump the self-righteous bible-belters' disapproval of pre-marital sex, teen immorality, and parents who don't know or can't control what's going on in their own kids lives; or in their heads, for that matter, right?

No shock and awe over Palin lying by omission or commission to McCain's vetters, either, hunh? Or any discomfort and disbelief that McCain actually knew in advance that his VP's minor child was going to have a kid out of wedlock? Why, it just shows that the whole gang of 'em are human after all, and in need of spiritual guidance from, say, some guy with a big make-believe church on TV. Wait for it. McCain may have to become "born again" himself after all this. Shall we gather at the river? Careful where you baptise, I'll be puking. Best go upstream, brethren.

Speaking of morality, and water, and revolting spectacles, how 'bout John & Cindy McCain & Alaska's "Neglectful Mom of The Year" rushing to Missisippi in Cindy's private plane ("C*NT" ONE), down to the Delta where Obama has traction, (where McCain's family owns, or owned slaves), to pretend to be doing something about the various hurricanes Dubya's global warming has caused, while interfering with real preparation, relief and evacuation efforts, WHEW! Thank Gawd there was an extra Senator there, to bloviate at the hurricane. Let's hope he gets some votes out of it, hunh?

After all, he just wanted a chance to show that Repukelickins really do care about reg'l'r folks that're struck by disasters like Hurricane Andrew or Katrina, or the recent Midwestern floods, or the cyclone in Burma, the earthquakes in China, the genocide in Darfur, Zimbabwe, Georgia, etc, etc, etc. Even if they did absolutely nothing right when those disasters occurred. Even if they still don't give a sh*t to this very day about any of the victims and refugees anywhere, like in New Orleans, where new winds & waves are striking neighborhoods that were never rebuilt, overtopping levees that have not been replaced, sending refugees fleeing helter-skelter like in Katrina, which was THREE years ago, yawl. But then, them people was sinful black Democrats, and Gawd punished 'em cause of that, is how yer "born agains & evangelical" sick f*cks see it.

Let's hear how they see Gawd's intervention in their Convention. The one where they pretend to care, to want to help, to be effective in disaster relief, with their "No Big Gummint" bullsh*t.

See, Gawd ain't cooperatin'. The storm has passed Nawlins, mostly. The Repukes won't be able to capitalize on a new disaster. Their thunder has been stolen by the storm, making them its' principle victims. Now, will lightning strike hypocritical right-wing lyin' slut-Mom Sarah "The Barracuda" Palin? If there's a God in Heaven, you better watch out, you blaspheming, Jesus-pimping, anti-christian 'Pukes! What would Jesus do? He's already doin' it, sinners, He's already a-doin' it! They's ANOTHER storm headed right fer vote-rich Florida. Think you can exploit this? Remember, God is always watching. And He doesn't watch FuxSnooze!

"McCain Plans To Make Natural Disaster Backdrop Convention"

THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR
"Palin daughter’s pregnancy shocks GOP convention"
Republicans want to put ANOTHER bastard in the VP's office.
' In a convention already thrown off-kilter by hurricane Gustav, the news that GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter is pregnant has added yet another wrinkle to the proceedings. Palin’s oldest daughter, 17-year-old Bristol, is five months pregnant and will marry the father of the child, Palin and her husband disclosed Monday. The Palins decided to make the announcement to quell Internet rumors that Sarah Palin’s fifth child, four-month-old Trig, is in fact her daughter Bristol’s baby. The Palin announcement reopened the question of how closely GOP presidential candidate John McCain had vetted Palin before selecting her as his running mate, a move that surprised the political world last Friday. If he had not known of the daughter’s pregnancy until now, what would that say about the thoroughness of Senator McCain’s scrutiny – and about Palin’s judgment? Two top McCain advisers, Stephen Schmidt and Mark Salter, told reporters in St. Paul Monday that Palin had indeed informed the campaign of Bristol’s pregnancy during the vetting process, according to the Associated Press. '

THE INTERNATIONAL HERALD-TRIBUNE
"Day of stunning Palin disclosures"
And this was the BEST woman for the job? Don't the 'Pukes have even ONE other woman, just ONE who's not a mess?
' In a day of stunning disclosures, John McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, said Monday her 17-year-old unmarried daughter was five months pregnant, and it was revealed that an attorney was hired to defend the governor in a probe into the firing of her public safety commissioner. The revelations threatened to steal any remaining thunder from Day One of the Republican National Convention, which already was overshadowed by Hurricane Gustav — and brought unwanted attention to the 44-year-old governor, who has little experience on the national stage. The Republican convention, taking place just three days after McCain named Palin has his running mate, had already been scaled back because of the hurricane. Coming after the randomness of Gustav, the revelations added to the sense of unscriptedness hanging over the convention. The national convention, which a political party counts on to send its candidate surging into the fall campaign, already had been relegated to a distant second to the hurricane on TV, in newspapers and on Internet Web sites. As for the Alaska probe, a Republican-dominated legislative committee is investigating whether Palin dismissed Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire a state law enforcement official who had divorced Palin's sister. '

RADAR ON LINE
"Palin Daughter's Babydaddy: Some Dude Named Levi, Reports Enquirer"
The girl likes a guy in pants. Not just any pants. She's particular. Gotta be Levi's. The VP's daughter loves a guy with a button fly, no new-fangled zippers to figure out. Cheap & easy, that's our girl!
' Make that 2-0 for David Perel. Fresh off his success with the John Edwards story, sources tell Radar that an aggressive 36-hour push by Perel's National Enquirer reporting team forced Alaska Governor and John McCain's vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin to announce that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol is pregnant, an announcement which effectively puts an end to the Internet rumor that Palin had faked her own pregnancy to cover up her daughter's. (Or does it? There are already conspiracy theories that this pregnancy is being faked to dispel the rumors that Trig, Palin's 4-month-old, is really Bristol's child. Kinda crazy, right?) Radar has also learned that the father of Bristol's child, as well as her soon-to-be-husband, is a 17-year-old hockey player named Levi Johnston. '

MARKETWATCH
"Gustav passes New Orleans with levees intact "
Praise the Lord! Uh, well, maybe the other hurricane will get the 'Pukes some votes. Gawd willin'!
' Hurricane Gustav moved past the New Orleans area Monday, and though it still threatened to flood some areas with storm surges, the city's levees and floodwalls apparently braved the worst the storm had to offer with minimal damage. The front end of Gustav was working its way toward northwest Louisiana and had been downgraded to a tropical storm, although there were warnings the storm's back end still featured hurricane-force winds. Gustav hit Louisiana three years and three days after Katrina struck. Katrina created a storm surge from Lake Pontchartrain that shot water into New Orleans' outfall canals and caused levees to fail. Three-fourths of the city was underwater. It's still trying to rebuild. '

WASHINGTON POST
"GOP Opens Convention With An Eye On Gustav"
Republicans desperate to capitalize on human misery. As usual.
' As Hurricane Gustav battered the Gulf Coast, Republicans today completed an enthusiastic but abbreviated first session of their national convention with headlining appearances by the current First Lady and - Republicans hope - her successor. Bush emphasized that "we are all Americans" today and that partisanship should take a back seat. But when she introduced a video compilation of appearances from governors of Gulf Coast states, Bush did mention that "they all happen to be Republicans." '

ABC NEWS
"Money Trail: What Hurricane? Lobbyists, GOP Party On"
Let them eat cake! Lots of cake!! More cake, please!!! WOO-HOO!!!! It's A Cake-Vention!!!!!!! CAAAAAAAKE!!!!!!!!!
' As residents of New Orleans were fleeing Hurricane Gustav, top Republican party officials donned pink boas and swigged vodka shots at a wild whirl of corporate and lobbyist-paid parties this weekend in Minneapolis-St. Paul. More than a hundred people jammed a Minneapolis restaurant where waiters wore pink wigs and guests wrapped themselves with pink boas, on the weekend before the start of the Republican National Convention. Many corporate sponsors and their lobbyists carried through with plans for lavish entertainment of GOP lawmakers and others despite calls from the campaign of Sen. John McCain that Republicans should tone down the convention festivities. "We will be contacting corporations and others to ask them to be respectful of events in the gulf," McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said Sunday afternoon. Yet, last night lobbyists for the National Rifle Association, Lockheed Martin and the American Trucking Association put on a raucus six-hour party at a downtown bar featuring music by the band "Hookers and Blow." There was no evidence of any actual prostitutes or cocaine. Along the Mississippi last night, corporate lobbyists for the chemical industry were entertaining Ohio Republicans on two large yachts. Sen. George Voinovich (R-OH), one of about 700 guests, said he "could not remember" who paid the costs of the river cruise. Saturday night, 22 big corporations sponsored a pig roast and "booze cruise" for California Congressmen and delegates on Lake Minnetonka, west of Minneapolis. Many delegates at a party Saturday night for GOP convention CEO Maria Cino said they saw no reason to stop the good time because of events in New Orleans. "Everyone goes through hard times," said Wisconsin delegate Jeff Larson. '

USA TODAY
"McCain-Palin tour storm zone, stump in Mo."
Better bring your ass-hat, too, McSame. Guess Republican hats aren't American hats. Prob'ly made by political prisoners in China.
' As the Republican Party revamped its national convention, John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin split their attention Sunday between campaigning and showing support for Gulf Coast residents threatened by Hurricane Gustav. "We will put aside our political hats and put on our American hats," McCain told a packed minor league ballpark about 35 miles west of St. Louis. The Arizona senator said the same line when he spoke via satellite to a news conference in St. Paul, where Republicans are gathering to officially nominate him for president. '

FOX NEWS
"Obama Cancels Speech During Gustav"
Obama does the right thing, as usual.
' Barack Obama canceled a speech in Detroit Monday out of respect for the victims of Hurricane Gustav. “I apologize for this change in plans, but instead of a political speech, I’d like all of us to join together in silent prayer,” he said. '
